This question sounds silly, right? We parents will always give our children the best, so long it is within our means. This is a statement, not a question.
As we are becoming more affluent, the best for our children may become part of their lifestyle, which can be expensive. I am just wondering, in the event that our children are not as financially successful as us in the future, will they be able to live happily with their less materialistic lifestyle then, or continue to pursue relentlessly to sustain the lifestyle that they have always had since young??
There will never be a straightforward answer. While I am still providing the best for my kids within my means, perhaps the next best thing I can do is to inculcate the right values and develop the skills in them to fall back on in face of challenges.
